Used cooking oil is collected by some and sold back to oil refineries which is then filtered, bleached, deodorized and blended with fresh oil. This 'new' oil is then trickled back into our food market and consumed. This would not be a problem except that oil re-used beyond 3 times becomes carcinogenic. The carcinogenic compound is formed through the broken chains of fatty acids through heat, thus becoming free radicals.

Those of us who do not sell it back to the refineries, throw it down our pipes and drains. Much of this will go directly into clogging drainage systems and contaminating our water sources, both underground and sewage systems. Once contaminated, separating water from oil becomes almost impossible as 1L of oil spreads thin contaminating up to 1,000,000L of water.
